Bed and Breakfast Room Guide
Ensuite or Private facilities
Many of our guests have found there is a confusing difference between
the definitions of private facilities and ensuite facilities, particularly
between English in the USA and England.
Both phrases are often used wrongly in England as the same thing,
and in the USA private is used to mean ensuite. The technical definitions
are as follows:-
Ensuite - Your own toilet and shower/bath accessed from WITHIN
your room.
Private - Your own toilet and shower/bath accessed from OUTSIDE
your room.
Shared - The toilet and shower/bath is shared between one or more
rooms.
If, when you are booking your accommodation in England, you are
unsure of what the exact type of facilities are that accompany your
room, please make sure you get the proprietors to explain fully
to you what is offered. This saves complications from both sides
when you arrive.
If you have any further questions or are at all unsure on any of
the above, feel free to email me and I'll
do my best to help you out.
All the very best, and I hope you all very much enjoy your trip
to England.
