Langton House bed and breakfast was started in 1979 in a very small way as Marjorie Fogg started to use a spare room for a single gentleman who was refereed to her by a friend who was running her own B&B and was full. So started a career in the bed and breakfast world. Slowly the family home turned into a slightly larger operation, as the children left home they found their rooms turned into guest rooms, and if they wanted to come home for a visit they had to book ahead, luckily the room rates for family members were very favourable and usually included a complimentary breakfast!
As Marjorie Fogg began to think about retiring, Paul Fogg, her son, was looking for a career change and he thought it would be a good idea to try running the B&B with his sister, Ann. This went on for a year or two before Ann wanted to move on and left for pastures new. By now, Paul had met his future wife, Sonja, and started to run the B&B with her help.
In 2007 we had a visit from Mr Dunscombe who gave us a little more information on the history of Langton House. He was actually born in the building in 1946. At that time it was being used as a small private hospital.
